Milwaukee Urban Gardens is a program of Groundwork Milwaukee and a nonprofit land trust dedicated to acquiring and preserving land and partnering with neighborhood residents to develop and maintain community gardens that improve the quality of life.
Groundwork Milwaukee is an independent, not-for-profit, environmental business linked together with other Groundwork Trusts by the Groundwork USA national office. Locally organized and controlled, Groundwork Trusts provide cost effective project development services focused on improving their communities’ environment, economy and quality of life. The mission of Groundwork Milwaukee is to bring about the sustained regeneration, improvement and management of the physical environment by developing community-based partnerships that empower people, businesses and organizations to promote environmental, economic and social well-being.

Milwaukee Urban Garden’s Kilbourn Gardens was a finalist for the 2011 MANDI Awards in the Public Space category. The MANDI Awards, given out by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, recognize positive additions to the community.
